“Transactivists” aren’t stopping any research. Research was carried out by Littman and it was found wanting. The “diagnosis” of ROGD was invented by bloggers who wanted to explain away their children’s transness. Instead of forming a theory based on data, they’ve already convinced themselves of the truth of the theory, for which there is no data. (The plural of anecdote is not data, as any good scientist will tell you.) That’s just how pseudoscience works.

As for “experimentation”: children do not undergo irreversible treatments for gender dysphoria. Puberty blockers have been used for decades to treat precocious puberty, and healthcare for trans kids stretches back to at least the 1990s in some places (e.g. the Netherlands.) Sex-reassignment procedures that are offered to adults have been around for a much longer time (albeit with some improvements made here and there.)

Final point: there has no no rapid rise in “transgenderism.” Transgender people have existed forever, and transsexuals have been undergoing sex-reassignment since at least the 1930s. Trans rights didn’t just suddenly appear, either: activists have been working away for at least half a century. If the “emergence” of these things seems sudden to you it is only because you weren’t paying attention before the we went “mainstream” in the media, circa 2014.
