I hope you stick around, Jimmy. Probably a different model altogether needs to be build, unfortunately I think that this goes way beyond my pay-grade.

I was reading a post from one of my favorite poets, Vaishali Paliwal in which she was concerned about the future of poetry. And I did not understand her concern at first, and then I realized that under the new model, you can scan a poem in a couple of seconds.

Unfortunately I agree with your assessment in that Medium’s goal is to turn into Vanity Fair/Vogue/Cosmo with a little of Newsweek to spice things up. I mean, this people had been trying to make the platform profitable for ever now.

It seems that one of the problems to me is that pretty much everything in America is an economy of scale. Many people here are trying to make a living doing what they love the most. I just read a beautiful story from this girl Ashley Evenson, Paper Airplanes, which is a whooping 18 min read. I loved every second of it, but guess what, it does not tell you how to deal with your failing relationship by giving better blow-jobs, so she got 5 fans and it breaks your heart.

I wish I would know the way forward.

All the best,

Pablo
