I’m not sure this is playing out exactly like Steve Jobs’ famous “PC as a truck” analogy. It may be more like the PC is one of the legs of Voltron.

The desktop has not gone away. The laptop has not gone away either. But we have moved away from them and into our phones.

The pocket computer has taken over a big chunk of «compute share», and we resort less and less to our old tools. Still need them, only for a decreasing number of tasks. And new consumption models are blooming around the phone, so I expect that trend to continue even further.
