What makes a peaceful society?
I wonder, dear friends. I wonder, dear brothers and sisters. I wonder, what makes a peaceful society?
Peace comes in many forms, the peace I refer to today is one of the long-lasting variety. A peace that permeates to all the edges of society. A peace that is enjoyed in every corner of this wonderful world.
I wonder, my fellow human beings. I wonder how many wars we will have to endure, how many merciless killings, how much hatred will be flooded into our lives by the media before we stand up and say with our collective voice: ENOUGH.
In order to begin to find a path to follow we must first, I believe, look to the giants of the past. Gandhi, Mandela, King, and many others are proof that great things can be accomplished without the use of force. Their voices, the voices of their followers, the voice of mother earth and father sky, the voice of those present and those long gone must now come together to find a new way forward. A path of peace, love, and harmony.
The road ahead will not be easy for there will be much to be built along the way, but it’s a road that we must build if we are to extend our presence in the cosmos into the near or far-distant future.
Lately I have begun to ask myself the question, what makes a peaceful society? As of today, I have only fleeting answers to the question. I hope, and believe, that as I go forward with my young life I will slowly begin to live into the answers that I so dearly seek.
