The Omnipresent Christ: On Where His Church Really Is

The Church of Christ transcends the walls of temples and buildings. It is a mystical Body that embraces believers throughout the world and throughout time, and even those who cannot, for various reasons, physically participate in church services.

According to the Apostle Paul’s teaching, each believer is part of this Body and has a unique role in it (1 Cor. 12:12–27). This is especially true in our time, when remote ministry opportunities are expanding the vision of what a church community can look like.

According to the Gospel, Christ is especially close to the downtrodden, the abused, and the disadvantaged. His teachings on love and mercy are not confined to the confines of a particular religious organization. In this sense, “seeking Christ first” among these people is not just a spiritual task, but a theological principle supported by the very words of the Savior (Matt. 25:31–46).

Spiritual life and encounter with Christ is not limited to the Church’s liturgy or canonical structures, but is a worldwide and comprehensive process in which everyone can find his or her own.
