Get To Know The Founder Of TFN

Hello there! This is Cory Page and I’ll share a little bit about myself for those who don’t know me. I am the Founder of Top Fitness And Nutrition, a community where people build each other up towards their health goals.
I have been in athletics since the age of 5, ran in a marathon, served as an active duty paratrooper in the Army, and have been fortunate to pursue my passion by coaching men and women of all ages towards their health goals.
I have a Sports, Exercise & Weight Management certification from ACE, formally known as, American Council on Exercise. Additionally, I am
Welcome To The Community!
looking forward to receiving my Health Coach certification from ACE. Depending on when you read this, I may have already obtained it!
I had the opportunity to live in Europe for 3 years during my time in service — I know, pretty lucky to have been sent to such a unique location!
After fulfilling my contract, I moved back home to Minneapolis for 4 months to spend quality time with my family and friends. Then I moved out to San Diego to further my education in Entrepreneurship & Small Business Management! I enjoy other subjects, like Psychology, Exercise Science, Finance, Sociology, Human Relations, etc, but I decided to get a degree in my number one passion, Business! I do like learning the other subjects outside of the formal education environment though.
During the 3 years in the Army, I spent most of my free time in the gym, weight lifting or playing sports. I learned a lot training with experienced lifters in person and reading magazines, articles, and watching YouTube videos.
I spent a lot of time improving my health! The culture of the military was perfect because everything was structured in favor of our training schedule. Whereas working at a normal job with a list of other obligations can get in the way of training.
I have worked in multiple industries, such as the financial services, travel, car sales, graphic design, and postal services industries. I worked in those different jobs while attending college as a full-time student, so I understand what it is like to struggle to fit in exercise and eating right.
At first, I even gained unhealthy weight because I was eating at nearby fast food places. It wasn’t long before I cut that behavior. My metabolism is healthy, but not nearly as fast as it was when I was a young boy. I remember what I felt like when I was eating bad and it wasn’t exciting!
Those few months showed me how quickly our body can pack on unhealthy fat. I wasn’t even falling behind on exercise, the food was simply loaded in too many calories and my metabolism was struggling to find ways to utilize those nutrients for energy, so the excess got stored in fat storage.
Aside from the bloating appearance I had taken on, I was feeling more fatigued than I had been when I was eating healthy. My insulin levels were fluctuating constantly from the rapid increases from high caloric fast food meals, followed by sudden crashes.
Having a busy schedule can lead us to disregard exercise, eat poorly, and put our focus on things other than our health. I know exactly how frustrating it can be to experience conflict with a busy schedule. I also know what it feels like to experience lowered self-esteem due to health problems.
I experienced mild-severe acne when I was a teenager. This time of my life was a struggle at times because I wanted to express myself and be happy without feeling like I was being judged, but I suffered bouts of depression from a back and forth battle between my hormones and skin. Physical appearance issues seem to be 10x worse as a teenager. I’m hoping this reaches some young people too, so they can find answers in fitness to improve their self-esteem!
The last 5 years of my life, I have been working hard to improve my health by exercising and constantly learning about nutrition. My skin has improved since then, although I do still get occasional blemishes. Now I understand how my teenage years were much worse due to my self-defeating perspective. Meaning, I didn’t take enough action to exercise more and eat right. I was a bit confused why I was breaking out because I always seemed to eat healthy, my mother was a good cook, and I played sports year-round, so I was never out of shape.
In fact, despite all the time playing sports and weight training, I was a fairly skinny guy. I imagine some of you reading this may also be up to your head in frustration about your health. Perhaps, whatever you try to do to lose weight, gain muscle, or eat right, doesn’t seem to work.
It is my mission to encourage as many people as possible to live healthier lifestyle’s! I believe we can become a healthier nation overall if we provide more suitable communities that are focused towards helping people on their journey.
