Andhra Pradesh government using Internet for it’s best
I was just randomly browsing through youtube and found that a live show was going on with AP Chief Minister on ABN channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUvYnnrxiwg I have gone through it and I’m really proud to say that Mr. Chandrababu Naidu is doing some impressive work.
Firstly he has this Dashboard, a webapp basically which he uses to monitor data from various departments, realtime! It even includes, data such as Rain gauge, ground water levels and so on. And they say that anybody can actually access this dashboard. He could even tracedown which eligible senior citizen took pension when, including the exact time! At his fingertips! And he actually did! Brilliant! Basically, he was probably showing off his new app but I think he earned every right to show off.
A citizen who was with the TV reporter claimed, he had problem with putting fingerprints on something, CM was able to trace when exactly he took the pension and assured the person that his officers will look into the problem. I mean, it might not sound very exciting or helpful for others but being a webdeveloper and developing web apps for last 5 years, I was amazed that the government is using something like this! Awesome.
He’s in the process revamping the whole government process and tools. He introduced something called e-office or something which lets govt. officers access documents anywhere with internet access. One govt. officer claimed they no longer have to wait to obtain documents necessary for their work waiting for approvals and whatnot.
He even talked about how he’s linking up land owner’s details with Aadhar card so there’s no longer a need for hard copies. Apparently, if you own a land somewhere you were supposed to get passbook of some sort, this passbook is a hard copy which you can use as a proof of ownership. There’s no need for one now. You can simply get a e-passbook in a mobile app! And if you need to submit your proof to bank, to get a loan or something you can provide them the e-copy and bank can check your records on the govt database which is open to public and can give you loan! I mean, common now, that’s superb!
Another thing was e-PoS, which is right now under partial implementation and will be implemented in the whole state in the coming months. Ration provided/sold by the govt. is now logged online under this e-POS. And again CM can view all details online. All of these are still underway, it’s getting implemented and fast! He said govt. increased commission for ration shop holders because he said these agents used to be corrupt since they weren’t getting enough money from this. But what these mean is all of govt. services are now logged and monitored. Less red tape, less corruption, faster response and data. Data, data, data everywhere.
Also the govt. is coming up with an App in which you can file complaints on any govt department. He’s even touching IoT. They are putting up sensors on street lights, which log data to govt. if the street light is not working!
WOW! Just, WOW! I mean this guy is stopping nowhere! Hats off Sir! Proud of you! Hoping you’d continue doing this and replace all paper with data on servers.
