When I play paintball, my mask always fogs, help!— Paintball Ireland

Glasses, contrary to popular belief, aren’t a disadvantage to any paintball player. To ensure that, you’ll need to follow our guide to stopping your glasses from fogging.

Keep it Dry:

At the start of the day, check your mask is dry throughout. A heavy days rain the day before, followed by cleaning can leave your mask wet and ready to fog. Ask for a new mask if you are concerned.

Check it fits:

Check your mask for fit and don’t wear a mask that is too tight or does not allow ventilation.

Don’t Stuff It:

Don’t be that guy (or girl) that stuffs their mask with tissue to try keep the rain or paint out. The vent holes in masks are for just that, ventilation. Let them do their work and you get on with your game.

Scratches & Stuff:

Always check your lens for scratches or cracks. Sites check their masks daily but its always a good idea to check yourself. If the mask is excessively scratched, ask for a new one!

Cool It:

After a game, and when in a safe zone, remove your mask and let it breath. Wipe down any excessive sweat and dry it as best you can. This is especially recommended during an Irish summer, otherwise known as a monsoon.

Know Your De-Fog Routine:

In the same way you planned your battle out from start to finish, know how to defog your mask. Ask your marshal to direct you to the defogging station, or if they don’t have one, bring a small bottle of Fairy Liquid (The secret is out, Fairy Liquid is the mythical defogging liquid ingredient)

  1. Clean your mask with tissue and remove any paint. Do not use the same tissue for the surrounds as you do for the lens.
  2. Gently dip your fingers in the defogging liquid and gently clean the inside and outside of the lens.
  3. Polish off the defogging liquid.
  4. Now, the secret, lightly reapply the defogging liquid and lightly polish it off.

Know this routine, repeat after each game, and you will have clear vision all day. If you’re still un sure how to do it, check out this video from Outpost paintball:
