Deism is as susceptible to infinite regress as any other “view” imaginable, which is why the right way to view views is to see them for what they are — empty. In fact, the only reason a person goes about fashioning a view such as Deism is because the person is not consciously aware that there is no way to resolve an infinite regress. Proposing a single sentient being as the creator of everything simply takes an otherwise begininglessness, uncreated and formless universe and substitutes for it a beginingless, uncreated and formless being — and all this simply to give form to what doesn’t have form, to imagine an immortal being possessing a self solely, however unconsciously, to justify one’s closely held belief in the accuracy of their otherwise misconceived notions regarding metaphysical reality and the existence or non-existence of the so-called “self.” And to the extent anything I just said can be conceived as a view, I don’t hold it.
