Why it’s vital to deliver excellent customer service skills
It’s obvious that you want to provide excellent customer service continuously. The benefit of this is that you will ‘delight’ your clients and increase your profits.
However, be aware that you need to remain on top of your game, to always give your customers what they deserve — excellent customer service.
Do you always offer excellent customer service?
Yes, of course, you do. Well, we all like to think that our own business is the best and the service we provide is incredible. But have you thought about the customer service experience that you provide to your clients?
Review and reflect on your excellent customer service skills
Take ten minutes out of your day, make a cuppa, sit down and jot down all the wonderful things such as products and services that you offer your customers.
• Go on be honest, do you provide all of that, all of the time?
• And do they continuously receive your excellent customer service?
• Or do you have days when you think go away, or I can’t be bothered with you Mr Customer?
Yes, scary isn’t it. But don’t worry we all have days when we feel a little de-motivated and not on top of our game.
Do you want to know a secret?
The secret is to be aware of how you’re feeling. There can be lots of reasons to feel de-motivated or despondent:
• You may have been working too darn hard
• You may have more work on than you can cope with
• You may be working very long hours
Any or all of these things can make you feel a little down and lacklustre. However, if you’re aware of how you’re feeling, then you are winning the personal awareness battle.
Your feelings and looking after yourself
If you have lots going on at home and personal commitments, on top of a busy work schedule, this will make you feel overwhelmed and, at times, exhausted.
Being personally aware of all of this will awaken you to your thoughts and your feelings. You’re more likely to take decisive action. Yes, that’s right you need to start making time for you. And look after yourself.
The danger zone is when delivering excellent customer service wanes and you enter the danger zone:
• You become tired
• You attempt to achieve an unobtainable amount of work in a short space of time
• Your energy levels dip and your excellent customer service skills decline
Looking after yourself
You need to take care of yourself. However, busy you are it’s important that you take time out for you.
If you don’t, then your customers will suffer. They won’t receive your superb customer service skills. Worse still they’ll damage your brand by telling others of their bad experience with your business, and you’ll lose sales.
So next time you’re feeling exhausted and know you have worked far too many hours — think about the customer service experience your clients are receiving. Is it excellent or is it below par? More importantly, are you looking after yourself?
