Medium NaNoWriMo Novel Prompt #7
Julie Russell

It was a project I’d had in mind for months, but I was working on something else, so I never got around to it. A “memoir” of sorts, from the voices of my mother and father. I knew it would be painful, and I knew I’d avoid it if I didn’t have a deadline, so when NaNoWriMo rolled around, I just jumped in. I finished it three days early, 56,000 words, and, on the other side, I feel lighter and very satisfied. I didn’t even need to lash myself with a whip — I just began writing and, when I had a chapter or an era finished, I stopped, from my birth up to the deaths of both my parents. An excellent experience. I don’t know if I will do it next year, but if I have a project that I’ve been avoiding, NaNoWriMo is the exact vehicle to get me started. THANK YOU. Pamela Blair
