‘Santa Cruz del Islote’ This island is located in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. This lamp is one of the most densely populated lamps on the earth. On this island 18 families live in 97 houses, whose population is 1200. It is as big as 2 football fields. This is a man-made lamp, which is located on the coast of Bolivar Department of Colombia.

It is believed that Santa Cruz del Islote was discovered 150 years ago by a group of fishermen who were casting their nets in search of new waters. The fishermen spent the night in Santa Cruz and decided to stay there permanently when they learned that there were no mosquitoes. So local fishermen used coral, rubble, stones and other materials to build this lamp at low tide. Some of the people of this lamp migrated from here to neighboring islands such as Tintipan Island or Mukura Island as the population grew. Children of this lamp learn to swim and catch fish at a very young age. There are schools for children to study here and a restaurant, which serves as a port.
