‘The Great Pyramid of Giza’ is the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the World. The pyramid is the oldest and largest pyramid in the Giza pyramids complex bordering present-day Giza in Greater Cairo, Egypt. This pyramid is also called Khufu Pyramid and Cheops Pyramid.

Egyptian scientists concluded that the ‘Great Pyramid of Giza’ was built as a mausoleum by Pharaoh Khufu, the fourth Egyptian pharaoh. It is estimated that this pyramid was built in the 26th century BC and it took about 27 years to build it. The ‘Great Pyramid of Giza’ was the tallest man-made structure in the world for over 3,800 years.

In the early years the Great Pyramid of Giza was as high as 146.5 meters (481 ft). The Great Pyramid of Giza was constructed by removing 2.3 million large blocks (the stone used to build the pyramids) weighing 6 million. The outer layers of this pyramid were attached with mortar. Local limestone from the Giza Plateau was also used to build this pyramid. Apart from this, many other blocks were used to build this pyramid which were imported from Egypt by boat down the Nile River, the world’s largest river.
