“Do” I have to believe in God in order to enter heaven? In short, yes — without of going into all the theology. A French mathematician named Pascal had a dear personal friend who was an atheist (there is no such thing, but let’s pretend). They had great discussions which convinced neither that the other held the field. Finally Pascal made a proposition to him:
Pascal’s Wager (paraphrased):
“You say there is no God, and I say there is. You chide me for spending needless time and money supporting my convictions. If YOU are right and I am wrong, all I have lost is some money and time. If I am right and you are wrong:
You have lost your eternal soul.”
Wanta bet? Bob
