The gender wage gap in Silicon Valley

First, thank you for going out of your way to collect this data. We need more of this.

“I hope that it will encourage at least some women to think more about their value for an employer and next time will negotiate a better deal for themselves.”

Two things:

  1. People use their previous salary when negotiating their next salary, so the disadvantage compounds upon itself.
  2. As much as I encourage women to negotiate better deals, I also hope that EMPLOYERS will recognize this and go out of their way to combat a system that is rigged against women.
