Debunking “Trans Women Are Not Women” Arguments
Julia Serano

I’ve been thinking about this after an argument with someone, and here is the way I see it. (1) as a feminist (Cis gender), you don’t get to say “We want equality but you people aren’t equal to us”. So feminists probably should stop arguing transwomen out of the equation.

(2) take gender out of it. If a kid is born in Australia but their parents move to France from the age of 3, they live their whole life there, take on french habits, speak french (can’t speak English) and at 18 take out French citizenship, are they French or are they Australian? Everyone would say French. Now switch in the trans situation. How is it different?

I went from one school of thinking to another over the course of a dinner….
