This is the final article in our series of 5 pieces that introduces you to the concepts behind Panjea. Before you read this one, we’d recommend you check out the rest — that way you can easily understand the structure of the platform, how we curate content, the tokenomics and a little dip into our De-Fi pools.

Naturally, with a project as interesting (and some would even say as ambitious) as Panjea, we’ve spent many afternoons and evenings as a founder team, discussing where we would like the platform to go after our initial vision of becoming the world’s favourite content platform. And no, it’s not all about seeing our tokens go to the moon. In fact, this is something we rarely talk about…

However, one of the topics that always seems to surface is on the amount of centralised control that we’ve seen arise on the internet. A few of us can remember the bold days of the 1990s when the internet was all IRC and UseNet groups. Parts of the internet that we still use today were coded by people in their bedrooms and huge businesses have gone onto benefit from their work. And whilst philanthropy is not a bad thing — having a society where those with billions don’t make decisions for the rest of us would be better.

What has that all to do with Panjea? The internet offers us a tantalising opportunity to have a fairer society where the wealth of the world is offered out to everyone. In this article we’re going to take a look at some of the ways we’d like to manage to do reach that lofty goal in a way that everyone can agree on…

I Bring You the Future… (Dreams, Visions and Reflections)

Cultural and Creative Ambitions…

As long time users of the internet, we can’t help but notice that the fun, heartfelt content on the web has turned into something more lurid. As creators simply try to be the next big thing in your feed, we’ve lost the emotive element of our art. Because the internet operates on a free model, it’s turned into the world’s biggest advertising directory.

At Panjea, we’d like to think we can change this trend with our product. Content should be visited repeatedly and not simply flow away, only to be replaced by the next piece of incendiary drama or controversial news. Art and creativity serve a vital function in our culture; and we want to use it to bring people together and celebrate what’s best about society.

The future of Panjea is undoubtedly tied into the community. And one where we want to create a different feeling; a contrast to the vitriol, anger and division that are becoming increasingly common on sites like Facebook, YouTube and especially Twitter.

Our Platform? Your Platform

One of the most important aspects of Panjea is the fact that we want to remain community controlled. It’s going to be one person — one vote on the platform. And with our KYC and Proof of Life (PoL) function this will stop individuals buying up armies of bots to sway the votes in their favour.

If you’re on the Panjea platform, then you’ll be able to have a say on how we embrace the future. One of the most exciting aspects of the project is seeing how our audience and creators actually use the curative content tools. And what kind of information will ultimately flourish on the site.

Because every other site we’ve used (and we’ve been on many in the early day from a number of social sites you’ve forgotten ever existed to sites like Steem. It and Hive) has had its own unique culture and content — we want to give those who shape and contribute Panjea the opportunity to guide us into the next stages of growth.

Financial Tools

Panjea intends to start off with a fair and complete access for all on the platform. We’re aware that many creators might want to monetise their content further. Or if they start to get a following could want to open shops that sell pictures or stream one off showings of their new film — with ticketing facilities.

Our commitment to our community goes beyond simply creating the cultural framework and moderation rules — it’s about giving creators and audiences the tools they need to create a sustainable, digital life where their output can be truly valued. Once we understand the demands and needs that you want — then it can be created.

Welcome to the Layer Cake

Who is going to create this new tech on the platform? Well, it doesn’t have to be Panjea. Our platform will be open to third party developers from the AZ ecosystem — who will be able to build new functions that could offer services traditionally offered by Web2.0 models — or could even think up whole new ways of interacting with creative commercial services.

We’ve already been in discussions with some of the leading tech on AZ (we’re keeping this a little bit secret for now) and looking to develop relationships with some key players, and others already exploring how their technology could be modified to work with our user’s aims and objectives. It’s an exciting time with tons of potential.

Begone, Anon…

One of the perennial challenges that has occurred on the internet is that of the anonymous troll. Users can create swathes of content, ecosystems and online businesses, only to have their opportunities wiped out by bad actors who hide behind a veil of anonymity on the internet.

This is potentially one of the more out-there elements we’ve talked about — but we believe in free speech on the internet. Not free speech with consequences, but free speech with ownership.

Stop saying stuff on the internet that you wouldn’t say to people in your friend group or in society. And with our PoL it’s possible for the community to decide that content could be sorted or even gated by those who are prepared to state who they are on the platform.

Reality Or Nothing

Let’s go back to something we originally talked about in our first article and expand on it a little.

As a society we’re becoming increasingly aware that AI is now knocking on the door of our electronic communications. We’ve already seen how deep fakes have the power to beguile and hypnotise society with propaganda and misinformation. How long however before you could get a video phone call from a parent or your partner — it looks like them, it even sounds like them with their voice — yet it’s an AI replica?

Panjea could be an answer to this problem. Again, it’s down to our community — but there’s the option for you to build a browser where all communication has to come from verified sources. You’d know, via a certificate or a kind of passport that the person you were speaking to is undeniably them. An increasing need in a world that’s becoming ever more virtual.

Panjea Needs You

Panjea is still in its early stages of development. We’re currently holding interviews for our first tranche of creators — people who are edgy, innovative and want to do something different.

We want those who are inspired by the vision, ready for the difference and hungry for an opportunity to open the web up again to the thinkers, dreamers and doers. We’re setting up an off-site community who are ready for the first day of live action… Contact us through our social channels or emails on the website.

If you share this vision of the internet and this message is resonating with you — then perhaps Panjea might be the right place for you to call home. Find out more at our website https://panjea.io/
