Celebrating Diverse Cultures: When We Celebrated Diwali and Halloween
What happens when the festival of lights meets the season of spooks?
Cultural diversity is the art of thinking independently together, where every tradition is a thread weaving the fabric of humanity’s shared story.
I was excited about the 31st of October. Diwali and Halloween were celebrated together in the UK and worldwide. We could answer the door for Halloween, see everybody’s costumes, and celebrate Diwali by making Rangoli patterns.
With the two holidays coinciding, many people on social media have dubbed the combination as Diwaleen.
Diwali:
We Hindus celebrate Diwali every year, typically in October or November. To provide some context, Diwali commemorates Lord Rama's return to Ayodhya with his brother and wife after a 14-year exile. Lord Ram faced numerous challenges during his exile but overcame them with strength, wisdom, and devotion.
It (Diwali) symbolises the victory of good over evil.
