Criticality and Contentment

I don’t think there’s any other way to do it. It’s a natural consequence of the depth of your engagement, and it’s worth celebrating.

The only nuance I would add is that, the less committed I am to a particular genre or form, the more easily contented I am. So if I go hear live music, for example jazz or classical, it’s much easier to enjoy myself. And if I go hear a DJ or producer perform in a genre removed from my own interests, I’ll be happy to live and let live (eg “Is this good trap music? Ok, cool, thanks!”).

The only thing that will always bother is crappy technical skills, like beat-wrecking and such. There’s just no excuse for that. But that irritated me before I began mixing, too.
