MediaTek released the flagship smart TV chip S900, which supports 8K video decoding and high-speed edge AI computing.

The S900 chip uses the ARM Cortex-A73 CPU and the Mali G52 GPU, and supports 8K video decoding and HDR10+ standards. On the I/O side, the S900 chip supports HDMI2.1A interface, the bandwidth is increased to 48Gbps, and supports HDR10+, 4K 120Hz and 8K 60Hz video output.

In addition, the S900 chip also integrates MediaTek’s AI processor unit (AI Processor Unit), which is equipped with a new generation of AI image quality technology (AI PQ), which supports AI enhancement functions such as face recognition and scene detection, and can be used for different scenarios. Adjust color saturation, brightness, sharpness, motion vector compensation, and intelligent noise reduction.

Devices using MediaTek’s S900 chip will also support voiceprint recognition, local voice assistants and other functions, and can connect smart devices via the NeuroPilot platform as one of the control centers of the AIOT. It is reported that MediaTek’s S900 platform solution is now in mass production, and the terminal products will be available for external supply in early 2020.
