WDi-14, Day 1

First day, feeling anxious about what the classroom dynamic will be like, and what kind of personalities we have. Turns out there was nothing to worry about, our class is absolutely amazing, everyone’s really friendly and helpful to anyone stuck.

Met our teacher Jack for the first time (Or the second time if you include that random time last year when it turned out we were friends with the Baker Bros!) Great teacher, very patient with whomever had questions or was getting lost in the terminal, ls is your friend!

We kicked off with learning the terminal. Something a bit different (but not so different) as i was accustomed to the windows console. Generally a lot of the same commands so i wasn’t diving into the deep end.

Enter the Command Line Murders! Using everything we learned, and a hell of a lot of grepping, we had to go through all of the folders and files, looking for clues as to who the murderer was. After being stuck for 15 minutes at the start, not remembering how to search all the files in a folder for a particular phrase, it finally clicked! The Pieces starting falling together and 15 minutes later it was solved. What a feeling! Considering joining the police if the web developer career doesn’t pan out!

Back tomorrow!
