Real Wealth Group donates $100,000 to Humber River Hospital

A financial services firm has donated $100,000 to Humber River Hospital Foundation to assist with construction of Canada’s first fully digital hospital.
The donation by Real Wealth Group of Companies will go toward supporting the foundation’s $225-million campaign to bring the new Humber River Regional Hospital to fruition at Keele Street and Hwy. 401. Opening is slated for Oct. 18, 2015.
“It’s not too often in one’s lifetime you see a brand new hospital being built in your backyard, and one you will probably use in your lifetime,” said Paolo Abate, CEO of Real Wealth Group of Companies.
His 97-year-old grandfather was recently treated and released from Humber’s Finch Site, and many of his employees have ties to the hospital, he said.
“Paolo Abate and Nick Tsimidis of Real Wealth Group have a true understanding of how to build strong communities — by investing in the new Humber River Hospital, these generous gentlemen are helping to fortify the community in which they live and work,” Heather Hurst, president and CEO of Humber River Hospital Foundation, said in an email.
“On behalf of the Humber River Hospital Foundation, I extend sincere thanks to Real Wealth Group for their leadership and vision. I encourage all business leaders in our catchment area and beyond to answer the call for better health care the way Paolo and Nick have so willingly done.”
In additional to the donation, Real Wealth Group of Companies is focusing on its own contribution to the medical field.
It’s currently building University Heights, a state-of-the-art medical and professional office building minutes from the hospital at Keele Street and Finch Avenue.
The eight-storey, 165,000-square-foot development will have retail space on the lower level with professional and medical offices on upper levels. It’s expected to open in summer 2016.
The building, to be located at 1275 Finch Ave., will not only be close to the new Humber River Regional Hospital, but also right where the future Finch West LRT and Finch West subway stations meet, Abate said.
“It’s unique to Toronto and the GTA in terms of being a true transit hub,” he said.
