You must have heard how Jeff Bezos’s brilliant Memo System has eliminated update meetings and made any meeting more efficient than ever before. He’s asking each employee to prepare memos before meetings and distribute those to the teams to let them read at the beginning of the meeting in silence. Therefore, everyone in the meeting is prepared about the agenda of the meeting and filled with relevant information.

Using the memo system, the meetings become more efficient, betters questions are asked, playing field is leveled up, strategic thinking is promoted and historical record of ideas and decisions are preserved.

Using memos gives all participants a chance to be heard and to share their thinking clearly, allowing the best ideas and strategies to surface.

If anyone misses a meeting, the memo is available to provide background and context to make sure nobody falls behind. Memos also serve as a record of the reasoning behind decisions that can be revisited in the far future as memos can be saved and made searchable.

Papirux took this simple but effective idea and turned it into a SaaS application to let any company benefit from it. One thing Papirux does better than the current implementation at Amazon is to streamline the whole product to excel the memo system such as providing a revision control and a review process before memos get published if needed and allow integration into common team collaboration tools such as Slack with extensive APIs. Rather than keeping memos in nested folders of one’s local computer or Cloud storage systems in the clutter, Papirux gives its users a personal space to store memos organized.
