Why are we challenging our own existence?
Our existence is challenged every day. Because of the benchmarks we set for ourselves and for things, tangible and intangible, around us. These are consequences of our own actions. We react to situations and to people in certain ways and have been doing that for years.
Our life as it stands today is a direct consequence of what we have done in the past, the choices we have made and the reactions we’ve had to specific situations. We say “that was a life-changing moment”; no, it wasn’t. Everything, every moment is a life-changing moment. The rest of our lives changed course because of that moment.
Everything that you are today, now, is because of what you did then, at that moment, all those years ago and all that changed because of what you did just now, in the last second.
Every moment eggs us on to behave and react in certain ways. And that is beautiful because life is never static because of this. We continue to shift shape, ours and that of people around us.
It’s a network of connections, of vibes and everybody impacts everybody. What someone does in some part of the world, through the zillion connections and through networks we didn’t know existed, comes and impacts us. And that’s why our existence is challenged every day. Emotions and relationships are forged on the way, business deals are made, beauty is created, nature is destroyed, innovation happens, life happens.
Some people want to play an active part and feel every moment of their existence, whereas some survive just because they are born. And that’s loathsome. Whether you are someone who is social, or you are someone who is a recluse, this very concept of life and the way it stitches itself through time, is simply a breath-taking phenomenon. The science and the mind-boggling natural technology that defines the construct of our body is breath-taking.
People don’t have time for people. Everything is data, everything is logic. Art is becoming science. The warrior has forgotten to leave his weapons outside before he enters his home. Morality is no longer questioned because that’s the norm. It is not unusual. It is not a surprise. The boundaries between logic and emotion have been breached. Everything is still so beautiful but where is the time to appreciate it? Where is the emotion to feel it?
The collateral for evolution. The consequences of progress.
It is still glorious and we will continue to be a wondrous species, but let’s just be wary that the moment we define a destination, we will perish. We need to continue to traverse and enjoy every moment of this magnificent journey. Moments that have been defined by our actions and decisions and reactions to circumstances, through evolution.
Enjoy it while it lasts because we are in a hurry to make an absolute mess of it. We are denying ourselves the fruits of everything beautiful we have ever created. Take time to soak that in. Feel with emotion and not logic. Leave the weapons outside.
Cherish your existence. Don’t challenge it.
