DDP is a multi-cultural complex located at Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station
DDP floor map
Designed by renowned Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid
DDP is considered the largest amorphous 3D architecture in the world
Opened in March 2014, DDP required 5 years of construction work
Entitled “Metonymic Landscape”, the design adds futuristic values to an historical and social area
It is built with 45,133 aluminum panels in different sizes and patterns
Hadid created a space that flows without boundaries
It is a building without any straight lines or walls
The design of DDP employs mega-trusses and a space frame, minimizing the use of columns and creating a massive interior space with seemingly endless curves
The curved interior is made of eco-friendly, fire-resistant plaster boards, GRG (glass fiber-reinforced gypsum) boards, cotton sound absorption panels, and imitation marble
DDP has 15 spaces and 5 facilities: art hall, museum, design labs, parks, design market, open square
