HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT GYM? #Nepali Fitness Blog [volume 13]

So, you have finally decided to join a gym but confused about which one is the right choice for you? well, I get this question all the time. Well, these are some of the vital elements that you need to take into consideration while choosing the right gym for you;

Selecting a gym that suits your lifestyle, which is closer to your home or working space will make sure that you have an easy access to the gym whenever possible. Moreover, you don’t have to go through the rigorous traffic jams and skip your workout during Nepal bandha.

This is one of the most overlooked aspect among clients who have just started their fitness journey. Remember, that you; are an empty vessel and the lessons that your new coaches will be teaching you will be crucial in the initial stages. Whether your goal is to build some muscle, lose fat or make a career out of fitness its important that you make sure that your coach has some credentials, knowledge or experience to guide you through your fitness goals. Most of the coaches in Nepal that I have personnel y encountered have minimal knowledge regarding science.

During my initial stage I suffered a lot because of coaches who had minimal knowledge regarding fitness which led to poor results and injury. I don’t want you all to go through that and waste years of your training and valuable time. Make the most out of your training and get a head start by choosing the right coaches.

Hint: Coaches who try to sell you stuff within 3 to 4 weeks of your training or try to get touchy with girls making them feel uncomfortable!! Its time to get out.

First, take a full tour of your new gym. Remember, equipment's are tools that will help you achieve your fitness goals so do not overlook them. Make sure the gym has ample space and its not overcrowded. Also make sure that the equipment and dumbbells are in good working condition. Here are a list of some gym equipment to look out for;

  1. Dumbbells with variety of weights with small increments.
  2. Basic popular machines and benches.
  3. A squat rack/ power rack.
  4. Pull up bar and barbell sets.
Well, it would be handy if you take a friend who has some lifting experience to take a tour of your new gym with you and help you decide if the gym is right for you or not.

Most of the fitness centers in Nepal charge admission fees before regular gym memberships. Well if you are a student or tight on a budget, make sure you compare the prices of the gyms in your local area. Remember, every gym have their own membership schemes and packages, so make sure you select the one which fits your budget and your fitness goals accordingly.

Key note: I would personally suggest you all to take a 2 to 3 days trail if the gym has such services or; select a gym membership of not more than one month to make sure if the gym is right for you or not.

Well these are my top vital elements that I lookout for when joining a new gym. Hope this blog helps you in selecting the right gym for you and achieve your fitness goals. Till then, see you in my next blog!!
