[ENG] Xzi, Paris Eternal’s new hope !

Today’s a special day for young Xzi, born on the 2nd of November 2001. He’s now legally an adult and ready to compete in the Overwatch League, wearing the Paris Eternal colors. Until now, he’s competed far from the European spotlights, and we can imagine that some of you don’t really know this young prodigy and his potential. The Rooster Club is here to present the amazing Xzi, with an already full résumé, despite his young age.
His career starts in Korea, under the Element Mystic flag, in January 2018. Not long before, in December 2017, the team finished 3rd in the Nexus Cup, a competition mixing Korean and Chinese rosters. After defeating the famous Lunatic-Hai in the loser bracket semi-finals, they fell against Kongdoo Panthera, then composed of rOar, DDing, Decay and many others. Element Mystic was eliminated from the tournament, finishing in 3rd.
Late 2018, the team decided to look for reinforcements and recruited Xzi, relegating Guard to a flex DPS role, and creating a new DPS duo with Sp9rk1e. Element Mystic is a young team, and the new blood’s boost is immediate : they finish 1rst of the KR Contenders 2018 Season 1 group stages, with 18 victories and only 2 defeats. Despite that scoreline, they are eliminated in the first round of playoffs by O2 Ardeont, who finishes 2nd of the season. Season 2 starts off without Sp9rk1e, suspended for account selling. Despite this, they finish 3rd ex-aequo with Meta Bellum. Between seasons 2 and 3, the team undergoes a lot of changes, especially with a number of signings to the Overwatch League : Guard, Jecse, DACO, Pokpo and coach Levi join OWL. There’s another big shift for Xzi : during season 3, he shifts to a support role, more specifically Zenyatta, to adapt to the GOATs meta — even if Element Mystic adapts the comp a little to fit their style by putting sp9rk1e on Doomfist. His DPS experience is a real asset for the team : more damage and more Transcendences. Even if Xzi was one of the most precise Zens in the competition, he was still lacking a little in maturity and his positioning sometimes left to be desired. They finish 2nd, after a 4–1 defeat against Runaway in finals. It’s with that performance that 2018 ends for Xzi and Element Mystic as a whole — a team that’s done nothing but progress, despite changes around them. They were announced as a tough opponent to beat in 2019.
And the predictions were right : of the 4 major competitions in the Korean scene in 2019, Element Mystic won 3 : Contenders season 1, the Pacific Showdown and the Gauntlet. The only “sub-par” performance : a 2nd place in Contenders season 2.
Despite being absent from the Pacific Showdown and Gauntlet, Xzi had the opportunity to show his talent on the DPS role, this time accompanied by Sp9rk1e and Doha, during seasons 1 and 2 of 2019 KR Contenders, where he had the chance to grow in responsibilities.
Two final important dates in Xzi’s budding career : the 25th of October 2019, when he was recruited by Paris Eternal and thus reached the Overwatch League, and of course, the 2nd of November, marking his 18th birthday and legal authorization to play on stage.
Xzi 선수 생일 축하합니다!
We wish him the best in the Overwatch League, under his new team’s banner : Paris Eternal. 파리에 오신 것을 환영합니다!
We don’t know about you, but at the Rooster Club, one thing’s for sure : we can’t wait to see this talent in the League, starting February 2020 !
