Sahil may have gotten just lucky but I think the main lesson we can take from his experience is, if you want to get good at design, go out and talk to people. Listen to their stories, their struggles then work hard to hone your technical skills. I know so many designers and developers get stuck in their own little bubble, not talking to anyone outside of their profession. They obsess over pixels instead of connecting with people.
By following the same steps, we may find our dream job as a designer at a company we love to work for but that company doesn’t have to be Facebook or Google or Apple. Personally, I have no interest in working at giant companies.
