What are the exclusions in travel insurance?

When going on a trip, it is always handy to buy travel insurance. This will help secure you from many different issues you could face at the airport, in the country or on the journey. Though travel insurance covers a lot of the issues but there are some exclusion. What are they? Find out below…

1. Flights missed because of protests or civil war — There could be times when a country you are visiting to, might have major local protests, which make it impossible for the flights to fly or the trains to reach the destination. In such scenarios, the insurance policy will not be helping you.

2. Extra expenses due to protests or civil war — Again, if such a scenario takes place where you spend extra or have to pay extra costs to reach safely to the country then these costs won’t be covered by the insurance plan. Don’t be in the impression that you can spend over to the top and your policy will cover it up. Make sure you check all such details before buying an insurance policy.

3. Baggage delay — If the baggage has been delayed for less than 24 hours, then your insurance policy will not reimburse any expenditure for the baggage. But if it exceeds 24 hours, then you can claim the money.

4. Loss of keys, documentations and money — You need to take care of your personal items when you are travelling. If you misplace any credit cards, money, keys or documents, then you cannot turn to your insurance company. If you have lost your passport, then your insurance policy can help you out but for objects like chargers, keys, etc., you will not be getting any support.

5. Injuries due to adventure sports — If you are the one who has taken up adventure sports and avoided to opt for harness, which has led to injuries then your travel insurance might not cover it. So make sure you take all the safety when opting for mountain climbing, trekking, paragliding, bungee jumping and other sports.

Other than these few things, there is everything else your travel insurance will cover up and help you for. So read details like what is covered and what is excluded before you buy any insurance plan.
