The Burger That Will Blow Your Mind
Jackson, Michigan has a few good burger places, and I am not talking about fast food burgers. I am talking about restaurant or bar and grill style burger places like Applebees or Outback. Although, one burger place that stands out to me, over all the other burger places is Schlenkers due to the environment, employees, and quality. Schlenkers, over the last few years, has been named best burger in Jackson and they definitely do live up to those expectations. Whenever I am craving a burger, Schlenkers is always the first place that pops into my head.
Schlenkers is a small diner that first glance makes you think to yourself “Is that place even big enough to be called a restaurant?” After you walk inside and see the cooks and servers that greet you with a smile, you notice all the customers that are very courteous as well. Anywhere you sit in the diner, you can see your food being made. The place is small enough that you can talk to anyone eating there and have a conversation with him or her almost as if they were sitting right next to you. Most of the time, people are stuffing their face with their amazing burgers. It has a very home like feeling, so I am very comfortable there and the employees just increase that feeling.
All of the employees are very friendly and always get into good conversations with people because most of the people that go there are regulars. I know I always have a smile on my face when I’m there because the employees make me feel special and not just like anyone of their other customers. The cooks are outstanding at their job; they make the food taste great and also are very quick. The servers are all very caring and genuine, because they care about their job and customers.
There are many things that make Schlenkers so great. To start off, like I said before, the people there are very kind and genuine. One of the main questions I ask myself when I walk into a restaurant is “Does this place have great service?” I can say that Schlenkers definitely does. The order gets taken, the food is delivered soon after, they check up on you to see if you need anything else to satisfy you, and they bring the check and change back very quickly. I remember my first time ever going to Schlenkers with my grandpa. When he took me there, he would not stop talking about how good their burgers were and how much I was going to love it. After we got there, my grandpa told his friend that worked there that it was my first time eating there. As a result, his friend gave me a free Schlenkers t-shirt. The place is just filled with great people.
Now the burgers are spectacular, I do not know what they do to them, but it tastes nothing like any other burger I have had in my life. Whatever toppings you add to your burger, it will always taste delicious. To finish off the great burger is to add their tasty side of fries. If you put a little vinegar on the fries and dip them in some ketchup, they taste fantastic. Now being a 19-year-old boy, I have a pretty big appetite to fill. When I’m really hungry I can order a double cheeseburger and an order of there fries and that will fill me up. After I finish, the bill comes and you can see that the prices are very reasonable. Which is very nice for me, being a college student. One downfall is that they only accept cash.
Another one of the main questions that I ask myself to decide if I like the restaurant is “Did the food satisfy me?” I can say with one hundred percent certainties that Schlenkers does satisfy my hunger every time I visit. Their burgers just hit the spot every time I am in need of one or two. I have never had a bad experience at Schlenkers and I go pretty often. It is so hard to describe how good their burgers are that you just have to go try one for yourself.
Like I said before, there are a few good burger places like Applebee’s, but what makes Schlenkers so much better then Applebee’s is their specific skill set in burgers. Schlenkers is known for their burgers, where Applebee’s has good food but many different kinds of food to eat. Since Schlenkers has a limited menu, they are very good at what they are advertising. Applebee’s has good burgers also but they don’t put as much care into there burgers as Schlenkers does. I go to Schlenkers all the time and have great service with a great burger and walk out of there happy and full. Also Applebee’s does have higher prices then Schlenkers does so if you’re a burger lover who wants to get more bang for your buck I would recommend Schlenkers.
The main point of this review is to tell all the burger lovers of the world, what your missing out on if you have never had Schlenkers’ burgers. I also wanted to draw attention to the employees and to let them know to keep up the good work. Obviously Schlenkers is doing something right if they were named best burgers in Jackson, MI two years in a row. It will always be a place I will remember because of their amazing food and the great experiences I have had with my grandpa there.
Schlenkers is a great place to eat with your family, with a friend, or even by yourself. It may be a small shack, but the place is full of great people who know how to serve you and also has amazing burgers. Some may say that the place is too small or that it is inconvenient that they only take cash, but I would say that it would be worth the trip to an ATM because the environment and the food is all around fantastic. On a rating scale I would give this place a ten out of ten or a five star ranking. I would highly recommend you try Schlenkers if you visit Jackson, MI or live here in town and have never been there before. You will not regret it.
