99% Of People Drink Water Wrong — But The Fix Is Simple
Yes, you’re probably wondering how it’s possible to drink water the wrong way. I mean, you only have one mouth, but that’s not really what I’m talking about.
Everyone knows to drink water from your mouth. That being said, how people drink water is usually wrong, and it can have dire consequences on your health.
But, the good news is these mistakes aren’t hard to fix. It’s simply changing a few of your habits about how you go about drinking water throughout the day.
By changing some of these small habits, you can unlock the full effects of water. Leading to more energy and better overall health.
So let’s look at five ways I was drinking water wrong and how I corrected them and bettered my health.
1. Not Drinking Enough
The first thing most people get wrong when drinking water is they don’t drink enough in the first place. A recent study found that 75% of Americans are dehydrated, which is quite staggering and scary.
Because being dehydrated can cause fatigue and other health problems. So it’s imperative that you drink enough water to keep up with your body’s needs. Try to drink around 64oz of water a day or more.
Try using a water bottle and fill it up first thing in the morning. I do this every day, and it makes getting water more convenient.
2. Not Taking Your Time
Most people drink water way too fast, which isn’t a great habit. It’s better to drink water in smaller increments rather than to chug a bunch at one time.
Most experts recommend drinking no more than a liter of water per hour, so don’t down a whole gallon at once. Pace it out throughout the day.
3. Drinking Water After Meals
It may be relieving to down a glass of water after a big meal, but it’s one of the worst things you can do.
When you drink water right after a meal, the water instantly dilutes your gastric juices. Making it harder for your body to digest food. Poor digestion causes the food to rot within your system, and you don’t get many nutrients from your meal.
So make sure to wait a while before drinking a ton of water after a meal or hefty snack.
4. Don’t Drink Chilled Water
Chilled water may taste like the greatest thing on earth after a run or a workout, but it’s not great for your health.
Drinking cold water can shrink your blood vessels and make your food harder to digest.
It also aggravates joint pains and solidifies the fats in your body.
So try drinking water that is closer to room temperature unless you need to cool down really fast.
5. Not Drinking Water When Fatigued
A primary reason people get fatigued is that they’re not drinking enough water. Water makes up around 60% of our body, and it’s crucial that we drink enough to stay alert and well.
Next time you’re fatigued, try drinking a couple glasses of water slowly, and you should feel more energized.
With this knowledge, I hope that you’re more informed on how to drink water properly so you can be at your peak and feel better throughout the day.
It certainly has been a big lift for me, and I know it will do the same for you.
Have a good day, and make sure to drink plenty of water.
Properly.
