The producers of the award-winning television show Designing Spaces® created the mini-series to honor the men and women who risk everything to protect the United States. Decorators, designers, landscapers and other experts lend a hand in renovating the homes of military families around the country. Through home improvements, the show aims to change the living situations and lives of these military families for the better.

Park West Gallery was selected to join Ermey and home renovation experts in transforming the Phinizy family home. Park West Gallery Director Morris Shapiro loaned his expertise to the show in order to provide the family with amazing artwork.

“Wow! What an honor to be part of enriching the lives of the extraordinary Phinizy family through the gift of art,” Shapiro says. “They made such sacrifices as a family, and still continue to make them, and to be a part of the whole team of Military Makeover, including all the donors and the professionals was truly humbling. It was a hoot to meet the Gunny too!”

The Military Makeover series airs on Lifetime Television® at 7:30 a.m. EST/PST on the following days:

  • Episode 1 — November 11 and 18
  • Episode 2 — November 25 and December 2
  • Episode 3 — December 9 and 16

Park West Gallery proudly supports the U.S. military. As a representation of this support, the gallery provided American-inspired works by artists Peter Max, Norman Rockwell, Romero Britto and Tim Yanke to the Phinizy family. The gallery also custom framed several works from the family’s collection, including paintings by Billy Phinizy.
