ASTRONAUT SUNITA WILLIAM
She was born on 19 september 1965 in OHIO UNITED STATES .She is an Indian-American astronaut ,is a former navy helicopter pilot with experience in flying more than 30 different rotary aircraft.During the first Gulf War, Williams was deployed as part of a helicopter combat support squadron and was later flown in support of Navy disaster relief operations in Florida following Hurricane Andrew.
In 1998 She was selected by nasa for the astronaut program. She made her first flight to the space station and returned as soyuz passenger with two cosmonauts . in the second ISS in 2012 , Williams becomes the second woman designated as commander of the station.
REASON OF NOT RETURNING TO EARTH
ON JUNE 5 2024 she was launched on a mission with butch wilmore on boeing spacecraft to ISS( INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION) This spacecraft was launched on wednesday from Cape Canaveral Space Station in Florida it was launched after many delays because of the issues and problems occuring in spacecraft.they were set to come back earlier this month but because of some problems in spacecraft they got stranded on ISS ( INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION). The issues include five thrusters that abruptly stopped working during flight and a series of helium leaks. NASA has further postponed the return of the Boeing starliner to earth from INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION. According to a Reuters report, Boeing has invested nearly $1.5 billion in cost overruns and till now no date is announced for the returning of sunita williams and boeing spacecraft.
WHAT NASA SAYS ON THIS
NASA has said ‘We are taking our time and following our standard mission management team process,” Steve Stich, manager of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program,said in a statement “We are letting the data drive our decision making relative to managing the small helium system leaks and thruster performance we observed during rendezvous and docking”. NASA is now not declaring the returning date of sunita william. They say we are taking our time to solve problems and making the return possible as early as we can but there are a lot of difficulties in this.
MY OPINION
In this I can say that NASA will do something because losing these type of experience astronauts will be avery big loss for them and it can be feel by NASA in next missions that’s why they have to do something that can make a safe landing on earth and I think NASA have a plenty of time because the ISS has full stock of things that is a basic human need so NASA can come with a better solution have have sufficient time for making a idea.
Conclusion
As the situation is going we can only hope that NASA will find a solution to this situation as fast as they can and we could pray for the lives of the greatest Indian American astronaut Sunita William. Who is representing India and she is also the woman who has the record of most spacewalk with timing of 50 Hours 40 minutes. If we lost her we would lose a very precious gem and it is very bad for us.
