Insecurities

Insecurities seem to have become a girl’s best friend. We pay attention to every little thing: What did that text mean? Does she think I’m rude? Do I look okay? Did that make me look obnoxious?

But one question remains unanswered…

why exactly are we insecure?

(The answer is more twisted than you think. )

We live in a society that claims that women cannot be genuinely confident.

“You look beautiful today.”

“Ugh no stop lying, I have these ugly bags under my eyes…”

sound familiar?

In hindsight, it seems rather stupid that women tend to point out their own flaws before accepting a compliment.

You see, we live in a world where if you actually believe you are beautiful, you are vain. If you say something “too educated”, you are showing off. And if you speak out against the popular opinion, you consider yourself superior to those around you.

In order for girls to get away with being confident, they must be insecure at the same time. In fact, sometimes we even pretend that we are timid just to avoid appearing conceited.

No matter what you do, someone will always have something to say about it.

Next time someone pays you a compliment, rather than putting yourself down, accept that there is truth behind their statement. There is nothing wrong with loving yourself wholeheartedly; anyone who tells you otherwise simply hasn’t learned to do so themselves.

So to the guy that told me I shouldn’t be as confident as I am: here are what you called my “feminist opinions”. all published. available for you and the rest of the world to read whenever you decide to be ignorant again.
