You Will Be Impressed with How Meta Seinfeld Is

Seinfeld is underrated. In addition to being hilarious, each of its episodes is a symphony of callbacks, “call-forwards,” interweaved and complementing stories, echoes and cycles, and language play (“Another babka?”)

To illustrate my point I took just one episode — The Boyfriend, season 3 — and mapped out all of these connections. That mapping is displayed below.

The notes at the top of the document are about connections to episodes that come _later_ in the show — and not as a callback; these are things that are in the DNA of the show and simply must be expressed. It’s part of the magic.
