A challenging adventure in the wilderness
As with many great expeditions, this idea followed a few beers after work a few months back. We’d wanted to trump our Tough Mudder outing so one of the team suggested we attempt to do the Three Peaks Challenge. This involves climbing the highest mountains of England, Scotland and Wales in 24 hours; Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England and Snowdon in Wales. The time is almost equally split between climbing and driving.
As a team we’ve had many nights out but never anything overnight. Our team lead, James, had meticulously planned our adventure to give us the best possible chance of succeeding. We would be spending almost 30 hours in a van together, an overnight in a Scottish pub and a post climb recoup in a bunk house in Wales. On top of this, we’d be pushing our bodies way beyond their natural comfort zones.
Would we remain a team throughout?
Of course we did ☺️
A big shout out to James for taking a drunken idea and making it an awesome reality; to Roger for doing all the grunt work but getting none of the mountain top reward; and to the whole team for looking out for each other, keeping spirits high, and well, being a team!
And yes, planning has started for our next escapade 🚣🏻
