I think the number of Windows-based web and Node developers is greatly underestimated, although I haven’t seen a recent statistic.

I suppose what irks me is that articles like this could at least mention that this is referring to Mac or Linux only.

That being said, I can’t wait to work with the bash in Windows. For now it’s still very separated from the rest of the system. One has to choose to develop on the Windows or the bash subsystem, they don’t work together. It still very much feels like a VM or a docker container, despite MS being very proud of it being a “real subsystem”.
