I’m torn. It’s beautiful writing that grabbed me and wouldn’t let me go ‘til the end but I still feel like there’s an aspect of the ‘male gaze’ in poems like this that make me uncomfortable. The good news is that it’s a powerful poem that I will study further to have a more complete understanding and reaction to.
