Medium Publications Have One Fatal Flaw…
Oisin O'Neill

There should be a quasi-intimate relationship between an editor and an author. An editor needs to understand the author’s experiences, style, intentions, etc. in order to be able to offer smart edits that are consistent with the author’s intentions.

To blindly edit an article based on decontextualized grammar or simply to garner more clicks is an affront to the author and the result will likely be a bastardized article that has lost something of significance.

Don’t blame Medium for this. Publishing takes work and anyone who publishes should invest the time and resources for professional quality and ethical editing.
