Genopets has been built from the ground up to allow all players to viably begin playing and earning within the game only utilising the innovative Move-to-Earn gameplay systems in a way that eliminates any upfront cost to owning and evolving their Genopet. Players will even be able to join the in-game Play-to-Earn economy to earn tangible cryptocurrency rewards. In order to prevent against inflationary and other pressures, the devs behind Genopets have built in mechanics into the free-to-play gameplay loop that not only guards against economic effects but creates in-game value for the Genopets ecosystem and economy.
The core of the game is your very own Genopet — each is a generative NFT that evolves and can be upgraded or customised as players gather more XP through real-world movement. Over time and with effort, love, and care; a player can increase their Genopet’s value by augmenting a pet’s type, battle performance, or aesthetics. All players will be able to mint an infant Genopet for free — but players who wish to get a head start might choose instead to purchase an already-matured Genopet to start their journey; just as players who have trained a Genopet from scratch might choose to sell their pet for profit. Genopets evolve with XP, and players can battle using their Genopets in turn-based minigames. Players will be able to engage in multiple simultaneous asynchronous battles, allowing for a constant stream of casual yet addictive gameplay.
Players will also be able to obtain Refined Crystal NFTs, unique mineral specimens which come in myriad forms; each playing a part in affecting gameplay and Genopet evolution. Crystals of different elements will grant temporary buffs to Genopets, changing the pet’s elemental type and changing its appearance in battle. Habitat NFTs will be spaces for Genopets to live, grow, and evolve, and will also enable players to directly craft Gene Crystals and earn $KI through their gameplay. Each habitat will only be able to support a single Genopet at a time, and will have distinct effects on the skills and upgrade costs of Genopets pastured in them. Players will be able to lease out excess habitats to other players for a fee. Purchasing or leasing a Habitat NFT will enable players to rapidly accelerate their in-game progression, as well as enabling access to the entirety of the diverse in-game economy of Genopets, where players can trade Genopets, Habitats, Refined Crystals amongst one another for in-game benefits and progression.
We have already mentioned $KI tokens, a fungible in-game reward token earned by players who own Habitat NFTs, able to be used to accelerate Genopet evolution, craft Habitats and other useful in-game items, and enter battles with other players. Players will also be able to accumulate $GENE, a fungible governance and staking token which represents an ownership stake in the Genoverse. $GENE holders will have voting rights on gameplay-impacting decisions, and will also be able to stake their $GENE to earn rewards.
