Cyber Security & Crime Division, CTTC, DMP’s Report Regarding Pathao

DMP’s Cyber Security and Crime division has completed the preliminary round of investigations regarding the Pathao app. We have interrogated the primary informer Mr. Ashik about the matter, and at the same time, we have scrutinized his video which went viral on social media. An inspection was also carried out at Pathao office, where we collected a copy of their database for further analysis and forensics.

After the preliminary investigations, we could not find any evidence of Pathao storing sensitive data, user messages, or any scope of data security breach. Notably, Pathao has already complied with the issue to make the app more user-friendly.

It is our earnest request to all: please contact us at the earliest before posting something sensitive on social media so that it is possible for us to investigate quickly and take legal actions from a neutral standpoint.

Cyber Security and Crime Division is working relentlessly to keep apps like Pathao risk-free for its users. Further investigations will continue to take place, and legal actions will be taken against Pathao or any other similar organization — if they are proven guilty.
