yep. you’re right. My knee-jerk emotional reaction had all the hallmarks of the knee-jerk emotional reactions that do nothing to further attempts at understanding one another, or at least allowing for a peaceful coexistence. It’s just that I know Allison and care for her, as well as a number of others considered queer, and for the most part they spend an inordinate amount of time and energy trying to be open and honest about their struggles, but end up too often being shoved into a corner where they’re expected to defend themselves for being different. That, plus plenty of other personal factors just led me to a place of despair last night. You were right to call me on it, and I appreciate it.
