The Road

Bridge on the Hana Highway / Patricia Lemieux

Life is a road, a highway, a path, a stream.

Short, long, winding, unrepaired in places, detoured.

You make your road, no one picks it for you or imposes in on you.

You can’t fix what lies behind you. That pothole can’t be patched, that stop sign can’t be undone, that side road can’t be untraveled. The choice was made in that moment forever changing the flow of your road.

Highways take you places, the conscious choice of direction is always yours.

The place in your path that deserves all your attention is where your feet are standing now. Not back in the past, not ahead in the future.

Mind where your road is taking you now. Now is all you have.

Where are you?
