I believe you would have heard about ESG which stands for “Environmental, Social and Governance”. It acts as a framework for organisation to consider so that their organisation aligns to the better good for the Planet Earth.

Organisation can see how they can align the Organisation’s Vision, Mission and Core values using the ESG as a framework and then design relevant Performance measurement metrics based on the organisation’s nature and scope.

So what does E-S-G involves?

The list below is non-exhaustive.

Do not get overwhelm by the list of issues your organisation will need to look into. Just pick one which you see the importance from each E-S-G to get started. Then, map out the RESULTS you want to see and design the appropriate METRICS to measure the performance.

Always REMEMBER that Performance Management is about developing the Performance of the organisation, and NOT measuring people!

The Performance Measurement helps the staff to analyse the performance of the tasks carried out, and what are the needed skills-sets which are lacking, so that a self-motivated Learning organisation in the organisation evolves. The organisation must also need to provide the support to assist their staff to acquire those skills-sets they lack, and not use it to measure them.

It is a grey line between Performance Measurement and measuring people, thus the management needs to have the right values and perspective towards Performance Management, so that it will not be abused targeting to undermine the individual.
