(1) A vote for a candidate who is unlikely to win is a ‘protest vote.’
(2) Protest votes are stupid; it is only rational to vote for a candidate who has a realistic chance of winning. 
(3) I live in a solidly red state whose electoral votes will go the the Republican candidate, so it would be stupid for me to vote for Hillary.
