Ms Wilson:
I lived in Detroit for years and I knew teachers in its school system.
I read just yesterday about the appalling circumstances of that system. I also read that approximately $4300 of the approximately $7400 that the district receives per student annually goes to service its debts and as payments to retired teachers. To use your description above, that is “just wrong”, in my opinion.
However, one should consider the causes of the situation you describe. “Just wrong” were the compensation demands of the unions, “just wrong” was the acceptance by management of those demands, “just wrong” was the knowing deferment of the consequences to future students and teacher, “just wrong” was the poor fiscal management of the system, “just wrong” was the tacit acceptance of clearly deteriorating standards of educational performance within the system, “just wrong” was the city fathers’ and citizens’ indifference and acceptance, “just wrong” was the reluctance of many to decry those circumstances for fear of being labelled “racist”.
“Just wrong”, too, is your implied expectation that someone else should now pay for the problems your previous colleagues, managers, and citizens created for themselves.
JUST.
