Your excellent, moving piece recalls the statement of President T Roosevelt more than one hundred years ago: “There are no hyphenated Americans.” As long as any segment of the citizenry seeks — for any reason — to differentiate itself or allows others to do so, a reaction based upon that perceived difference will inevitably result.

The media, marketers, pollsters,commentators, politicians, and we Americans all…need to stop, simply drop all the labels, and wrap each other in the red, white, and blue.
