Wield, Shield But Never Yield
Many a times in life, we find ourselves in situations where we are put in a corner. Times like these are what determine our character. For the tortoise, a corner is no problem. The gentle rock is in itself a walking fortress. To the lion, a corner is merely a corner — after all, who dares stand in the way of a king?
But to the fox, a corner is either a curse or an opportunity. A curse with no way out or an opportunity to find the wolf within. Small and furry the creature may be, it still harbours a deadly beast. Any animal pushed into a corner, would turn feral — save for the tortoise (perhaps the possum too.)
We all have our spirit animals. Perhaps it might sound a little cliche, something we often see or heard of in one of those Tumblr posts or a tweet. To the natives of the world, this dogma is not merely an illustrated tweet to gain more retweets or likes. The belief that we hold our own spirit animals for them, is assigned to us from the heavens.
Along the journey called life which we partake together, we often morph to the animals we were assigned to. But whether we are able to evolve into another at dire times or whether we remain stagnant, is another question.
I refuse to believe that we do not have the luxury of choice.
The mighty roar the lion gives out might just be a hunting call to the hunter and the impenetrable shell of the tortoise would soon be his doom by simply tilting it over. So to only be able to channel into one animal would be consequential in times as such.
Surely, the heavens did not meant for us to only adapt to one situation when life in itself is a collective of unpredictable precedents.
To only be able to manifest one animal at a time would be ineffective for our growth in life. As human beings, more so as individuals, we should not only limit our potential to grow and learn. To be able to act and react in certain times is but a technique mastered only with experience. Thus, trials and errors are part of the package. Do not shy away of mistakes as it guarantees growth.
After all, “try and try again until lambs become lions.”
Whether it is entering universities or a new work place, this ethic applies mutatis mutandis in all situations.
It is important that we always strive for more without having to stray away from our original visions. Maintaining mediocrity and enjoying the safety of our comfort bubbles inter alia are the enemies of success and adaptation.
We are more than the shells society had confined us to. We should be more, we can be more, we are more.
Hence, what is your spirit animal?
