I understand and agree, up to a point.

It is not entirely up to “us” to get them out of the predicament in which they find themselves. It’s a two-way street. Those who are able to help themselves are doing it.

Most blacks had already raised themselves out of poverty before the Civil Rights years and before welfare programs came into effect. Leaders and politicians love to take credit, but the poverty rate among blacks fell about 50% between 1940 and 1960, which was before the Great Society efforts of President Johnson.

And, black males’ years of schooling doubled in that same span of time. Voila! More education, higher income.

Playing the victim won’t work. Cries of white privilege and a demand for reparations won’t work, either. We had President Obama for two terms, we’ve had mayors of major cities who are black, black governors, blacks in Congress and on the Supreme Court.

And a black man earned what, 100 million dollars at a minimum last Saturday night, in a boxing match? What?

Every day, it seems, some hysterical, scaremongering waste-of-skin spews nonsense. I do the needful and call bullshit. So many days, though, and so little time.
