For Good Men To See Nothing
Ken Burnside

This is an excellent piece. I whole heartedly agree that enthusiasts should take some initiative to weed out the malcontents. I also feel, having read this that cons should consider having dedicated volunteers specifically looking out for this kind of behavior. Obviously they already have security, but I get the sense it’s security’s job to stay back and leave people alone unless someone calls for help. Changing security’s approach isn’t necessary and could potentially make people uncomfortable, especially since security is usually contracted and made of people who don’t necessarily give a damn about gaming.

Perhaps it would be effective to create an organization with a suitably cool name (Grey Knights maybe?) composed of volunteers that offer this service to cons and other events.
